Betty entered a luxury bridal shop looking for a wedding dress. Despite her modest appearance, she was excited for her big day. Mike, an employee who valued luxury, rudely dismissed her. “Look, grandma. Let me make things a little easier for you, okay? There’s a thrift store with second-hand dresses a couple blocks from here.”
Ignoring Mike’s disdain, Betty sought help from Cassey, another employee. Cassey warmly assisted Betty in finding a dress. Meanwhile, Mike eagerly helped another customer who ultimately left without purchasing anything.
Betty, however, chose an expensive dress and paid with cash, leaving Cassey a $5,000 tip. Shocked, Mike tried to backtrack, but Betty reminded him, “You’ve heard what they say about assumptions, right?”
Cassey explained that Betty was marrying a millionaire she met while working as a nurse. The encounter highlighted the importance of treating everyone with respect and not judging by appearances.
Lesson: Don’t judge a book by its cover. Treat everyone equally, as appearances can be deceiving.
