When Michelle and David moved for a work project, they asked his parents, Miriam and Richard, to look after their home. Although Michelle felt uneasy, David reassured her, saying, “They mean well.”

Alice organized a plan with the neighbors: “We’ll crash Miriam’s barbecue this weekend.” Everyone agreed to dress in Hawaiian shorts and bring tuna pies, Miriam’s least favorite.
At the barbecue, Miriam was shocked to see the neighbors. “What is this? You can’t be here!” she exclaimed. Michelle confronted her: “You’ve crossed the line. If you don’t comply, I’ll call the police for damaging my property.”
Realizing she had no choice, Miriam served the barbecue while the neighbors enjoyed the party. Michelle’s firm stance restored respect and boundaries in her home.
