Nightmare Wedding Day
My wedding day should’ve been the happiest of my life, but my mother-in-law, Eleanor, turned it into a nightmare. As Jake and I exchanged vows, I noticed Eleanor’s disapproving glare. Her disdain was clear when she made a toast at the reception, snidely saying, “May your love be as enduring as Amelia’s trust fund.”
Honeymoon Hijacked
The next day, we arrived at our honeymoon suite, only to have Eleanor show up, announcing she was staying next door. She crashed our dinners, interrupted beach walks, and even tried to join our couples’ massage. By day three, I was ready to leave.
Crossing the Line
Eleanor’s intrusion peaked when she chartered a yacht using our wedding fund. Jake confronted her, but she dismissed it, saying, “We’re making memories!” We spent the rest of the day in silence and decided to cut the honeymoon short.
Karma Strikes
Back home, we avoided Eleanor until she called, hysterical that her house had been robbed. We found her place ransacked, and the police were called. It felt like karma for her actions.
Making Amends
Eleanor eventually apologized and promised to repay the wedding fund. Years later, she’s not my closest family, but she’s a loving grandmother to our kids.
