Sarah trusted Ethan and believed in their future together. When she discovered his lie about paternity leave, her world shattered. She now faces a tough decision: confront Ethan or take control for her and her unborn child’s safety.
“We’re finally doing this, Ethan!” I said excitedly. “Imagine those first few weeks with our baby.” Ethan’s smile didn’t reach his eyes. “Yeah, it’ll be amazing,” he said half-heartedly. He revealed his boss wasn’t supportive of his leave. “He wants me to go to another city for an important project,” Ethan explained. “He hinted that if I refuse, I might lose my job.” I was devastated but tried to stay strong for Ethan.
At the grocery store, Amanda, Ethan’s boss’s wife, said, “I know for a fact Ethan’s paternity leave was approved without any issues.” Confused and suspicious, I checked Ethan’s phone and found messages from his parents urging him to help with their house renovations instead of taking leave. Ethan agreed, saying, “I’ll take the paid leave and come over to help. Sarah will manage with her mom.”
Heartbroken, I took pictures of the messages. Ethan came home to find a letter from me: “I found the messages from your parents. You lied about the paternity leave. I’m leaving because I deserve better, and so does our baby. I’ve sent the pictures to your boss, and I’m filing for divorce.”
With support from my parents, I realized it was time to start a new chapter based on truth and integrity. “You need to think about what’s best for you and the baby now,” Mom said gently. Holding my growing belly, I knew I had to be strong for us both.
