A Lancashire teenager, Jay Slater, vanished during a trip to a Tenerife music festival, sparking a desperate search as his family and authorities fear for his safety in the rugged terrain.
“The family of 19-year-old Jay Slater is desperately seeking answers after the teenager went missing in the mountainous regions of Tenerife, Spain,” SkyNews reported.
Jay disappeared on June 17, 2024, after attending the NRG music event. His father, Warren Slater, and brother, Zak, have joined the search, expressing confusion over his disappearance: “It doesn’t make sense. Nobody would walk off that road.”
Despite intensive efforts by rescue teams and local authorities, Jay remains missing. There was a potential sighting near Santiago del Teide, yet to be confirmed.
“We have to take each lead and act on it,” said family friend Rachel Hargreaves. The search focuses on rugged areas like Teno Rural Park.
Former Head of Lambeth Missing Persons Unit, Mike Neville, highlighted challenges: “It’s very difficult to find people here, because of the ravines and the mountains.”
Community support remains strong, with efforts to distribute flyers and share information online to aid in locating Jay.
As the search enters its second week, hopes persist amid the challenging landscape and unknown circumstances surrounding Jay’s disappearance.
