Celebrating the 65th anniversary of her iconic holiday hit, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” Brenda Lee has released a new music video, marking her first-ever in a career spanning decades.
Lee, who recorded the song at the age of 13, shared her initial surprise at being chosen for the tune by Johnny Marks. In a recent interview, she reminisced, “…I had not had a lot of success in records, but for some reason he heard me and wanted me to do it. And I did.”
Originally released in 1958, the song gained immense popularity in 1960 and has since become a cherished holiday classic, even reaching #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2019-2022. The new video, featuring Brenda Lee in a stunning red gown, includes appearances by her friends Trisha Yearwood and Tanya Tucker, adding a special touch to this festive celebration.
Yearwood expressed her excitement, stating, “It’s so timeless and one of my very favorite Christmas songs!!! Everybody loves this song and everyone loves Brenda Lee!! She’s my dearest friend, and I’d do anything for her!”
