Hannah Lynch, 18, daughter of British billionaire Mike Lynch, has tragically been found dead five days after the superyacht *Bayesian* sank off Sicily’s coast. Hannah, alongside her father, was among six people who went missing after the yacht was hit by a rare waterspout on August 19, 2024.
Divers recovered five bodies earlier, including Mike Lynch and his daughter. Hannah’s mother, Angela Bacares, survived by escaping on a lifeboat. The *Bayesian* had 22 passengers onboard, including Morgan Stanley chair Jonathan Bloomer and New York lawyer Christopher Morvillo, who also perished.
“This is a recovery rather than a rescue mission,” oceanography expert Simon Boxall said during the search. Italian authorities are investigating the incident for possible “culpable homicide.”
The luxury yacht sank amid dangerous weather, sparking conspiracy theories and rumors of foul play. However, the tragic event primarily appears to be a result of the violent storm at sea.
