After weeks of preparing Max’s room with dinosaur posters and stuffed animals, Vivian, Garrett’s mother, visited and suggested it be transformed into a reading nook. “This space would make a lovely reading nook,” she said, adding, “The boy could use some intellectual stimulation.”
Upon returning from a trip, Nora and Garrett discovered that Vivian had redecorated Max’s room with bookshelves and a daybed. “Where are Max’s things?” Nora demanded. Vivian responded, “I thought it was time to give the room a more sophisticated touch.”
Feeling the need to teach Vivian a lesson, Nora and Garrett revamped Vivian’s garden into a children’s playground. Vivian was devastated. “You’ve destroyed my sanctuary!” she cried. Garrett pointed out, “We simply repurposed it, just like you did with Max’s room.”
After a heartfelt conversation, Vivian understood her mistake and agreed to help restore Max’s room. By the time Max returned, his room was as he remembered, and the family began to heal.
