Adam neglected his mother, Diana, for years. One day, he had to pick up documents from her home, only to find it destroyed and abandoned.
Diana raised Adam alone, working hard to support his education. After he moved to New York for university, they kept in touch through phone calls. “I’m finally graduating in two weeks. Will you be able to come over?” Adam asked. Despite financial struggles, Diana made it to his graduation.
After university, Adam got busy with his job and relationship, and his calls to Diana became infrequent. One day, he needed documents from California, so he flew home unannounced. He was shocked to find their house in ruins. A neighbor explained, “Your mom didn’t have enough money to repair it after the storm, so she moved to a nursing home.”
Adam found Diana in a nursing home, frail and in a wheelchair. “Mom, I’m so sorry for not paying more attention to you,” he said, kneeling before her. Adam promised to take care of her, repaired their old home, and moved back to California to live with her.
