Nina’s concern for her daughter, Ivy, grows when she notices Ivy acting strangely. Despite Ivy’s reassurance, Nina can’t shake the feeling something is wrong.
“Mom, just cut it out,” Ivy said. “I’m just going through an introvert phase. I don’t like to talk about everything I do, you know.”
Confiding in her friend Alison, Nina decides to follow Ivy after school. She discovers Ivy visiting an abandoned house where a homeless man and his dog live.
“Mom! I can explain!” Ivy said, revealing that the man, Frank, had saved her from street hooligans. In gratitude, Ivy had been helping him with food and clothes.
Moved by Frank’s story and his kindness, Nina and her husband decide to help. They offer Frank a job at Nina’s bakery and a place to stay in a trailer Tom recently bought.
Ivy’s act of kindness teaches Nina the value of compassion and the impact it can have on multiple lives. Frank and his dog Buddy become a cherished part of their family.
