When my neighbor’s construction crew started using my driveway without permission, I thought I could handle it like an adult. But after weeks of frustration, I realized it was time to teach Dave a lesson he’d never forget.
I woke up at 5 AM to get ahead of the chaos. My son Tyler asked, “Why are you up so early?” I replied, “Trying to beat Dave’s crew. Go back to bed.”
As we made breakfast, a massive truck backed into my driveway. “You’ve got to be kidding me,” I muttered. Tyler said, “Mom, you gotta do something.” I stormed out, confronting Dave. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?” I demanded. Dave shrugged, suggesting I park on the street. “This is my property. You can’t just use it whenever you want,” I fumed.
Later, when two trucks blocked my driveway again, I decided enough was enough. With Jason’s help, I blocked access to the driveway with my car. Dave was livid, but I stood firm, explaining, “You use my property without asking. How is this any different?”
The next day, the foreman, Mike, apologized and offered to resurface my driveway for free. Reluctantly, I accepted. Over the next few weeks, the crew stayed off my property, and my driveway looked better than ever. Maybe, just maybe, we could finally be good neighbors.
