Elsa Campbell, 76, was devastated when her husband, Lionel, passed away. She withdrew from the world, only allowing her son Simon into her life. Two years later, Elsa began to heal and joined a chess club, reigniting an old passion.
At the club, she met Arthur, a widower. They grew close, but Elsa hid this relationship from Simon, fearing his reaction. One day, Simon saw Arthur dropping Elsa off and confronted her. Embarrassed, she lied, saying Arthur was just a club member.
A month later, Elsa was hospitalized. Simon visited and saw Arthur caring for her, confirming his suspicions. “Mom! Why did you have to lie to me?” he asked angrily. Elsa admitted her fear, but Simon reassured her, “I’m happy for you, mom!”
Arthur also feared telling his daughter but found she was supportive too. Simon and Arthur became close, and Simon even surprised them with a wedding in Miami. During the ceremony, Simon joked, “I am so jealous he is taking my mom away!” Everyone laughed.
Simon realized that love chooses us, and Elsa’s happiness mattered most.
