Country music legend Toby Keith, famous for hits like “Red Solo Cup,” has died at 62 after battling stomach cancer. His family shared the news, stating he passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
“Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on Feb. 5 surrounded by his family… He fought his fight with grace and courage,” the family statement read, urging privacy.
In September 2023, Keith discussed his cancer journey, acknowledging its ups and downs. At his first headlining shows in December 2023 since the diagnosis, he expressed gratitude and resilience.
“Through COVID and cancer, the old devil’s been after me a little bit… Instead of waiting, we’re gonna get the band back together,” Keith remarked.
Renowned for performing for U.S. presidents and awarded the National Medal of the Arts in 2021, Keith leaves behind a legacy of musical influence and resilience.
