Inspired by the sacrifices of 25 fallen Marines, Rochelle Township High School student Aubrey Headon designed a unique prom dress as a heartfelt tribute. The blue halter neck dress adorned with red and white ribbons resembling an American flag brought tears to onlookers. Aubrey’s act of remembrance is a selfless acknowledgment of the sacrifices made by soldiers.
She shared her motivation, stating, “I wanted to wear this tribute dress to my senior prom so the memories of the guys who fell in Afghanistan for our right to live how we do is carried on.” The dress was inspired by the heartbreaking story of Alec Catherwood, one of the fallen Marines, and Aubrey’s commitment to honoring their memory reflects the depth of her gratitude. Aubrey, who plans to pursue a fashion design career, envisions creating more special occasion dresses that carry meaningful tributes.
