Randy Guijarro’s $2 thrift store purchase in Fresno, California, turned into a million-dollar discovery – a 1878 photograph featuring the notorious Billy the Kid playing croquet. Guijarro shared advice, saying, “I hope this inspires others to dig through their trunks and attics.”
Guijarro, a telecommunications technician, identified Billy the Kid leaning on a croquet mallet in the photo. The discovery, valued at $5 million, is only the second confirmed photo of the outlaw. Guijarro expressed the challenging journey: “It had its ups and downs. It was a long and lonely journey. This picture had a Twilight Zone feel to it. It’s just too good to be true.”
The photograph was insured for $5 million by Kagin’s Inc., and Guijarro plans to use the earnings for travel and future adventures.
