In 2013, 8-year-old Ryan surprised his mother, Karen Suffern, by requesting Santa’s help to stop the bullying of his sister, Amber, in his letter to Santa. Expressing concern for Amber’s well-being, Ryan wrote, “Kid at school are still picking on Amber and it’s not fair because she doesn’t do anything to them.” Amber, facing daily bullying, shared her experiences on ‘Good Morning America.’
Ryan’s protective nature touched hearts, and ‘Good Morning America’ fulfilled one of his wishes by arranging a surprise performance from Amber’s favorite band, Big Time Rush, as an early birthday present. The band serenaded Amber, bringing joy to her face.
Amidst the heartwarming tale, Karen revealed that Amber was dealing with ADHD, depression, and a mood disorder. Inspired by Ryan’s letter, Karen initiated a dialogue with the school, leading to positive changes for Amber, including a new seating arrangement on the bus.
