Silent Monks’ Viral ‘Hallelujah Chorus’ Performance

A group of silent monks surprised everyone with their rendition of the ‘Hallelujah Chorus’ when students from South Kitsap High School united for this viral sensation. Originally posted in 2008, the video has garnered over 21 million views.

In the performance, 14 ‘monks’ stand with bowed heads, suddenly coming to life as the famous Christmas tune begins. They lift notecards corresponding to the lyrics, eliciting laughter from the crowd. This timeless song is from Handel’s 1741 composition ‘Messiah’ and still resonates today, known for its powerful notes and tempo.

South Kitsap High students added their unique twist to this classic, creating a viral sensation that required considerable time and effort but was well worth it.
