The Children’s Bureau reports that around 424,000 children are in foster care across the country, with nearly 8,000 in Tennessee awaiting reunification with family or a forever home. Sadly, the number of foster families in the state falls short at under 4,000.

Among these children was 12-year-old Andrew from Nashville, who had experienced multiple foster placements until he found a special foster family, the Gills. Kevin and Dominique Gill, along with their son Joc, embraced Andrew into their family. The boys quickly formed a strong bond, spending their days enjoying games and adventures.

Recognizing their connection, the Gills decided to make it official and filed adoption papers, surprising Andrew during a walk in the park. Andrew happily accepted, and now, he’s not just a best friend to Joc but also his forever brother.
